The name comes from chocolate — in old Split dialect, “cikolata”.
Cikolata is the old Split word for chocolate, and the whole story of the apartment is told around that idea. Our architect was asked to create a chic apartment whose textures, tones and atmosphere follow the taste of rich chocolate.
The name, the logo, the details and the chocolate treats that greet you on arrival all follow the same thought. Our aim is genuine, memorable hospitality — and to see you off with a smile and memories worth keeping.
More than just an apartment
A personal welcome, if you would like one. Whenever it helps, we will book and arrange the things that make a stay special — a hairdresser, a massage, a boat trip or a winery visit.
While you enjoy the privacy and comfort of ChiColata, Daniel acts as your personal concierge.
Materials
Wood, brass tones, Croatian artists.
Oak floors, furniture and carefully chosen details in shades of chocolate, alongside paintings and sculptures by Croatian painters and artists. The warmth of the interiors reflects the warmth and character of Split.
Lighting, carefully chosen and placed, brings out the softness of the rooms and the quality of the materials. The photographs show it better than any description.
Old Split
The green shutters gave it character.
The whole quarter shares one palette: stone, faded green joinery and canopies that hold the shade. The balcony has large green shutters, so the apartment blends seamlessly into the greenery of the street.
That green is the only accent colour on this site.

The host
We arrange the welcome ourselves.
You arrange check-in directly with Daniel, at a time that suits you. If you arrive early or leave late, we can also help with luggage storage.
The guide
We built the app ourselves.
We made the digital guide for our guests alone: six languages, a personal access code, and it installs on your phone and works offline — so it keeps working on the ferry. You receive access before you arrive.
The stay
Two people, the whole space.
The whole 50 m² apartment is designed for a comfortable, relaxed stay for two. Daniel looks after anything you might need, so your stay can be as easy as possible.
The family has an olive grove and produces its own olive oil. If you'd like to take some home, it is available in half-litre and one-litre bottles. Ask Daniel during your stay.
